Interior painting in Bordeaux: walls and ceilings

Paint goes on last, and it is what you see every day: we prepare every wall and ceiling before applying the undercoat and top coat. Your renovation ends with smooth surfaces and even colours.

Painting a wall with a roller, with the cornice protected by masking tape

We fill, skim and paint walls and ceilings, as the final step.

At NS BAT 33, repainting an interior always starts with preparing the walls and ceilings, in homes and shops across Bordeaux Métropole. On this smoothed surface come the undercoat, then the finish chosen for each room and each use. Rooms come out fresh, with crisp, even colours.

The final coat waits until plastering, floors and joinery are finished. It completes a full renovation of a flat as well as the refurbishment of a kitchen or bathroom. After water damage, it goes onto dry, repaired ceilings, with an undercoat that stops water stains from coming back.

At handover, you go round each room with us: any touch-up noted that day is covered by the one-year completion guarantee (garantie de parfait achèvement) for the following year. A single signature then closes your entire project, since partition walls, floors, joinery and painting all come under the same contract.

Painting and decorating

What the work includes

  • Walls and ceilings prepared

Every surface is washed down, scraped where the paint is flaking, filled, then sanded before the first coat. A finish hides nothing of what is underneath: this stage decides the result.

  • Smoothing skim coats

A skim coat evens out a wall that is uneven or marked by previous work: we apply it in one or more coats, then sand it. Old walls and new plasterboard joints get the same smooth base.

  • Colours and contrasts

Each room gets its own colour: a soft shade in the bedrooms, a bolder wall in the living room, light ceilings for brightness. Between two colours, the dividing line stays crisp.

  • Ceilings painted first

We paint ceilings before walls, crossing our passes then laying off in the direction of the light: any drip on the way disappears under the coat on the walls, and the ceiling dries without marks.

Why choose us for this work

  • Ready for raking light

A wall is judged when the sun skims across its surface and reveals every bump. Properly prepared and skimmed, yours stays smooth under this demanding light.

  • Plaster repaired without changing contact

If a wall needs more than a skim coat, the plastering is redone before painting, by the same company: there is no plasterer to find between coats.

  • Premises that make people want to come in

We also repaint shops, practices and offices, so your premises welcome customers and patients in a clean, bright setting.

How we work

How the project runs

  1. 1

    You describe your project

By phone or with the online form, you tell us what you want to transform. We call you back to pin the project down: the rooms involved, your priorities, the timing you have in mind.

  2. 2

    An itemised quote

Demolition, plumbing, plastering, painting: each job has its own line and its own price. You see exactly what you are paying for and decide with all the facts, before you sign anything.

  3. 3

    Each trade in turn

Demolition opens the project, followed by plumbing and electrics, partition walls, floors, joinery and painting. We organise this sequence: each trade starts on the finished work of the one before.

  4. 4

    Handover, room by room

We go over the work with you and record any snags on the handover report. That date starts your guarantees: one year for completion (garantie de parfait achèvement), two years for equipment (garantie biennale), ten years under the builder's guarantee (garantie décennale).

FAQ

Painting and decorating: your questions

How much does a painter charge per m²?

It varies mainly with the condition of your walls, more than with the area. Sound walls need an undercoat and a top coat; damaged walls first need filling, skim coats and sanding. A high ceiling or several colours in the same room are added to the calculation. Your quote sets out the preparation and the painting in detail, so you know what you are paying for.

Can you paint over wallpaper?

We strip it before painting: paint applied over old wallpaper can make it bubble or show up its seams. Once the paper is off, the wall is filled, skimmed if needed and sanded, then gets an undercoat and top coat, like a new wall.

Matt, eggshell or satin: which finish should I choose?

Matt suits ceilings and living spaces, satin suits wet rooms and busy areas such as hallways, and eggshell sits between the two. Matt hides small irregularities in the wall but is less washable; satin stands up to washing but shows up flaws. The choice is made room by room, when you settle on your colours.

Do walls need skimming before painting?

Only if they need it: a sound, smooth wall is painted after simple filling and an undercoat. A cracked or bumpy wall gets a smoothing skim coat, sanded, so the paint does not highlight any flaws. On new plasterboard, a full skim evens out the surface, so the colour looks the same on the board face and on the joints.
