Floor tiling, wall tiling and flooring in Bordeaux

Every finish we lay sits on a floor or wall prepared for it, flat and fully dry. The result: even surfaces and clean joints in every room, shower rooms included.

Laying oak parquet in a chevron pattern in a period flat

We lay floor tiles, wall tiles and parquet on a levelled base.

On floors and walls alike, NS BAT 33 lays tiles, parquet, wall tiles and soft flooring, in Bordeaux and throughout Gironde. Small characterful tiles or large formats with fine joints, wooden boards or sheet vinyl: each finish has the laying method that suits it. Shops and practices need a floor made for heavy footfall, which we choose with you.

In a bathroom renovation, the shower wall tiles go onto waterproofing, once the plumbing and partition walls are in. In a full renovation, the parquet in the bedrooms and living room goes down before the doors are fitted, which are then adjusted to the new height; painting rounds things off. And when water damage has lifted parquet or loosened tiles, the floor repair waits until the base is completely dry.

You choose the tiles, the boards or the roll; a single contract covers everything that will make them last: base preparation, waterproofing in wet rooms, adhesive suited to the format, grout. Under your feet, every layer has been laid by the same company, which therefore knows your floor through its entire depth.

Tiling and flooring

What the work includes

  • Preparing the base

We remove the old finish, fill holes, then if needed spread a self-levelling compound, a floor screed that evens out dips. A bonding primer completes the preparation, and laying can start on a sound base.

  • Floor tiling

Bathrooms, kitchens, entrance halls or living rooms get the format that suits them: small patterned tiles, large slabs with fine joints, straight or offset laying. Each tile is set level with its neighbours.

  • Shower wall tiles and splashbacks

Wall tiles cover the walls exposed to splashes, around the shower or bath, or behind the sink. In the shower, they sit on waterproofing applied to the walls and the floor, which protects partition walls from moisture.

  • Glued or floating parquet

Parquet brings warmth to bedrooms, the living room or a study. Solid, engineered or laminate, it is glued to the floor or floats on an underlay, depending on what the base will take.

  • Vinyl and soft flooring

Soft flooring, such as vinyl planks, sheet vinyl and linoleum, moulds itself to the base so closely that it shows the slightest flaw. Self-levelling compound smooths the base before laying, for a seamless surface that is soft underfoot.

Why choose us for this work

  • A tile layout chosen with you

The tile layout plan (which places every tile) is agreed with you before the first cut: whole tiles at the entrance to the room, cut tiles pushed into the less visible corners.

  • Clean transitions between rooms

Kitchen tiles and living room parquet meet with no lip: the difference in height is dealt with during laying, and the transition stays discreet.

  • Formats and directions that serve the decor

Large tiles make a small room look bigger, boards laid lengthways stretch a corridor, and a patterned tile gives an entrance hall character.

How we work

How the project runs

  1. 1

    You describe your project

By phone or with the online form, you tell us what you want to transform. We call you back to pin the project down: the rooms involved, your priorities, the timing you have in mind.

  2. 2

    An itemised quote

Demolition, plumbing, plastering, painting: each job has its own line and its own price. You see exactly what you are paying for and decide with all the facts, before you sign anything.

  3. 3

    Each trade in turn

Demolition opens the project, followed by plumbing and electrics, partition walls, floors, joinery and painting. We organise this sequence: each trade starts on the finished work of the one before.

  4. 4

    Handover, room by room

We go over the work with you and record any snags on the handover report. That date starts your guarantees: one year for completion (garantie de parfait achèvement), two years for equipment (garantie biennale), ten years under the builder's guarantee (garantie décennale).

FAQ

Tiling and flooring: your questions

How much does tiling cost per m²?

Per m², the base and the format account for most of the price: a floor that needs levelling, large-format tiles, diagonal laying or a level-access shower need more work than a flat, sound floor. Preparation has its own line in the quote, next to laying: you can see what each stage represents.

Can new tiles be laid over old ones?

It is possible if the old tiles are firmly stuck, flat and free of cracks, and if the extra thickness does not get in the way of doors or thresholds. A primer suited to smooth glazed surfaces then makes sure the adhesive grips. Otherwise, we remove the old tiles before laying the new ones.

Is it better to glue parquet down or float it?

Glued parquet is bonded to the floor across its whole surface: it sounds solid underfoot and, if it is solid wood or thick enough, can be sanded later to bring back its shine. Floating parquet rests on an underlay, with no glue: it can be laid over old tiles without removing them. The base and how the room is used guide the choice.

Tiles or soft flooring in a wet room?

Tiles are the obvious choice in wet rooms: they stand up to moisture and wipe clean in seconds. Soft flooring designed for damp rooms also works, and is warmer to the touch and quieter underfoot. It is up to you to decide based on the style and upkeep that suit you; we adapt the preparation to each finish.
