Bordeaux and Gironde

Plastering, partition walls, suspended ceilings and interior insulation in Bordeaux

With plasterboard, your home can change shape: a partition wall creates a bedroom, a wall lining straightens an old wall, a suspended ceiling takes the lighting. Insulation is added when your project calls for it.

Fitting plasterboard on a metal stud frame, with mineral wool between the studs, against a pale stone wall

We put up partition walls, wall linings and suspended ceilings, with or without insulation.

NS BAT 33 works with plasterboard in all its forms: screwed to a metal stud frame for a partition wall or suspended ceiling, bonded or fixed against an existing wall for a wall lining. This lightweight work reshapes the interiors of houses, period flats and business premises, in Bordeaux and the rest of Gironde.

Between the services and the finishes, plastering gives the home its shape: it comes after demolition and after the pipes and cables are in, just before the floors and painting. It plays a part in every full renovation, and whenever water damage has affected a ceiling or a partition wall.

Cables and pipes run behind your partition walls. Because plastering, plumbing and electrics are covered by a single contract, the services go in before the second layer of plasterboard closes up the frame, and coordinating it all is entirely down to us. We work on the Right Bank around Cenon just as much as in the period flats of central Bordeaux, whose old walls are rarely straight.

Plastering and insulation

What the work includes

  • Plasterboard partition walls

Our partition walls rearrange a home or business premises, with a single or double layer of plasterboard depending on the room they divide. A guest bedroom can be carved out of a large living room, or a hallway take shape.

  • Lining old walls

Against an uneven, cracked or cold wall, a plasterboard lining straightens the surface. It hides cable conduits, can take insulation if you wish and gives a smooth surface, ready for painting.

  • Suspended ceilings

Hung below the existing ceiling, a suspended ceiling hides pipes and cables, lowers a ceiling that is too high and takes recessed spotlights. You get a new, flat surface, ready to paint.

  • Interior insulation

The insulation goes on the room side, between the studs of a wall lining or above a suspended ceiling, then the plasterboard covers it. Its type and thickness are chosen with you, depending on the wall and the room.

  • Repairing partition walls and ceilings

A cracked partition wall or a ceiling marked by previous work or a leak can be repaired without redoing everything: we replace the affected boards and join the new to the old. Under the paint, the repair can no longer be seen.

Why choose us for this work

  • Joints that vanish under the paint

Every joint gets its tape, joint compound and sanding: once painted, your new partition walls look as if they were made in one piece.

  • Old walls straightened

Kitchen units, a bookcase or a headboard need a straight wall: a wall lining gives them one, even in an old building whose walls are anything but straight.

  • An office today, something else tomorrow

A stud partition wall goes up dry, with no mortar, and can be altered just as easily the day your needs change: your layout keeps up with family life.

How we work

How the project runs

  1. 1

    You describe your project

By phone or with the online form, you tell us what you want to transform. We call you back to pin the project down: the rooms involved, your priorities, the timing you have in mind.

  2. 2

    An itemised quote

Demolition, plumbing, plastering, painting: each job has its own line and its own price. You see exactly what you are paying for and decide with all the facts, before you sign anything.

  3. 3

    Each trade in turn

Demolition opens the project, followed by plumbing and electrics, partition walls, floors, joinery and painting. We organise this sequence: each trade starts on the finished work of the one before.

  4. 4

    Handover, room by room

We go over the work with you and record any snags on the handover report. That date starts your guarantees: one year for completion (garantie de parfait achèvement), two years for equipment (garantie biennale), ten years under the builder's guarantee (garantie décennale).

FAQ

Plastering and insulation: your questions

Does a suspended ceiling take away a lot of height?

It comes down just far enough to fit its frame and whatever it hides: a few centimetres for recessed spotlights, a little more for a duct or insulation. Under the high ceilings of a period flat, the difference is barely noticeable, and the room gains built-in lighting.

How much does plasterboard cost per m², fitted?

It all depends on the job: a simple partition wall, an insulated wall lining or a suspended ceiling with spotlights do not involve the same amount of work. Ceiling height, access to the site and the condition of the walls also play a part. Your quote itemises each piece of work, line by line.

Can a wall be insulated from the inside in a flat?

Yes: an insulated wall lining goes against the wall, on the room side, without touching the facade. The insulation fills the space between the studs of the frame, then the plasterboard covers it and is painted. The room only loses the thickness of the lining, and the wall feels much more pleasant to the touch in winter.

Is plasterboard suitable for a bathroom?

Yes, with moisture-resistant plasterboard, made for damp rooms. In the shower and around the bath, waterproofing is added under the wall tiles to keep water away from the boards. Partition walls and linings in a bathroom renovation go up just as they do elsewhere, with the right material in each spot.
